四年の月日が流れ、相良は今、横浜でナイトクラブ“スカーレット”を営むかたわら“逃がし屋”をやっていた。そうしたある日、探し続けていた秋子がグエンと名のる男と店にやって来た。グエンの祖国では革命が起り、直ぐ帰国しなければならない彼は、相良にシンガポール行きの船を捜してくれと頼みにきたのだ。冷たい目で秋子を見つめる相良、むろん彼は断った。この気配を、本国からの反グエン派の手先の佐伯は逸早く察し、警察も密出国幇助罪で相良を調べ始めた。そんななかで秋子は毎晩スカーレットに通い、夫の密出国を助けてくれとたのむのだった。やがて捜査状況も一段と厳しくなってきた。かたくなになっていた相良も今は、秋子の幸せのためにも“船を捜そう”とグエンに約束した。感激したグエンはここではじめて告白するのだった。四年前秋子をひいたのは自分の車で、そのため秋子は子供を生めない身体になってしまい、相良との夢が破れた秋子はグエンの求婚を受け入れたのだ。--ということをしゃべった。そして今二人の結び付きの固さを見て、秋子への想いを断ちきり、相良は二人の幸せのためにと是が非でもシンガポール行きの船を見つけようと心に誓った。かけずり廻ってやっとつかまえた船の中でグエンの脱国を阻止しようと待ち構えていた佐伯らと、相良は激しい戦いを展開し、ついに佐伯を倒した彼は、無事グエンと秋子を日本から脱出させてやったのだった。その夜、港には深い霧がたちこめていた。
